Abstract:

Various modeling approaches to examining longitudinal data have been used in diverse disciplines of education, developmental psychology, management, and economics. These include latent growth models, cross-lagged panel models, latent change score models, time series analysis, and some more nuanced forms. In this workshop, I review the current approaches by highlighting their similar foundations as well as key differences. Moreover, I discuss how a better understanding of existing models helps researchers to apply more sophisticated techniques (including dynamic SEM for intensive longitudinal data, continuous time analysis, etc.) in their own research.
