ABSTRACT
In this talk Vikas will emphasize that theories developed using firms based in the advanced markets are in need of ‘contextualizing’ in order to adequately capture strategic initiatives of emerging market-based firms. He will focus on his recent research on “springboard internationalization” and “entrepreneurial orientation” as an illustration to demonstrate how contextualizing can be done to advance international business research. He will also present initial findings from his study of 3204 Indian business group affiliated firms on the relationship between group level diversification and affiliate’s overseas subsidiary formation.
